Verb “to be” (affirmative)

In this lesson, we learn how to use the verb to be — one of the most important verbs in English. It helps us talk about who we are, where we are, and how we feel.The forms of to be are:

  • I am

  • You are

  • He / She / It is

  • We are

  • You are

  • They are

 

Examples:

I am Anna.

You are a student.

He is a teacher. / She is from Spain. / It is hot outside.

We are friends.

You are students.

They are teachers.
